Con questa intervista parte ufficialmente la rubrica “Back to 50’s with Anna”.
Ho scelto di iniziare con un’intervista a  Goldy Loxx, giornalista, modella e (per me) icona da cui prendere spunto per outfit e stile.

L’intervista è, ovviamente, in inglese , ma a fine pagina trovate la traduzione in italiano!!!

How did this passion started? How did it become a job?

My dad was always crazy about pin ups, I always liked that the women looked happy and fun instead of sultry. Marilyn Monroe was always a hero growing up – as an adult, I find her intriguing as she clearly suffered from mental health issues. These days, my job changes regularly but my pin-up passion always remains.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about this style and about the people following it? Plus Do you think this is a style or just a fashion trend? And what do you think about the people following this just as a trend?

I try not to judge people based on their commitment to the scene – however, I do feel that the more involved you get in the culture as well as the fashion, you will enjoy it more – there are so many great people and events to go to, it’s far more for me than just ‘a look’.

Lately the figure of women is a very discussed topic. How do you feel about it considering you work in the media sector? Do you think this is an advantage or do you feel discrimination about being a woman in the journalism field?

Personally I think that women are strong, beautiful, fabulous creatures who should express themselves as they see fit. I feel quite sorry for some men – it seems very constraining to be so tied to your fragile masculinity.

Do you consider yourself a model since you do a lot of shooting or is more a passion of yours?

I don’t really consider myself a model any more – although about five years ago, I think I was (of sorts). I do far less shoots now. But I do get paid to model and have appeared in several print publications and at many events doing promotion work so yeah.. that’s modelling, I think!

Come è nata la tua passione per questo stile? Come ha fatto a trasformarsi nel tuo lavoro?

Mio padre è sempre stato fissato con le pin ups. Mi sono sempre piaciute le donne che sembrano felici e divertenti piuttosto che quelle sensuali, Marilyn Monroe è sempre stata la mia eroina crescendo. La trovo intrigante ed è evidente che soffrisse di malattie mentali. Ad oggi il mio lavoro cambia regolarmente, ma la passione è sempre rimasta la stessa.

Quale credi sia l’incomprensione più grande riguardo questo stile e le persone che lo seguono? Pensi questo sia uno stile oppure una moda passeggera? E cosa pensi riguardo coloro che lo seguono solo come un trend?

Cerco di non giudicare le persone riguardo al loro coinvolgimento o meno nella scena, comunque ritengo che che più sei coinvolto nella cultura da cui il tuo stile proviene e più te lo puoi godere. Ci sono così tanti eventi e persone grandiose da conoscere ed è la cosa più importante per me di un semplice “look”.

Ultimamente la figura della donna è al centro di molte discussioni. Come ti senti al riguardo, considerando che lavori nell’ambiente dei media. Credi che sia uno svantaggio per te essere donna, subisci una qualche sorta di discriminazione nell’ambito giornalistico?

Personalmente credo che le donne siano forti, belle, creature favolose che devono esprimersi come meglio credono. Mi sento piuttosto dispiaciuta per alcuni uomini, mi pare molto limitante essere così legati a questo fragile concetto di mascolinità.

Ti consideri anche una modella dato che fai molti servizi fotografici o si tratta più che altro di una tua passione?

Non mi ritengo più una modella, anche de circa cinque anni fa si può dire che lo fossi. Ora faccio molti meno servizi fotografici. Ma vengo chiamata e pagata a fare da modella e sono apparsa su diverse pubblicazioni e ho lavorato come promoter a qualche evento….si, credo possiamo dire che ho fatto la modella.
